Billing Information

It is very important that you have your insurance identification cards with you when registering at Northern Louisiana Medical Center. This enables us to provide proper billing, estimated costs, verify insurance benefits promptly and obtain pre-approval for PPO/HMO patients before receiving services.

You will be asked upon admission to pay any insurance co-pay or deductible not covered by your insurance at the time of registration. This payment can be paid by cash, check or credit card. As a courtesy to you, the hospital will bill your insurance company for you. If your insurance company requests any additional information from you, please respond as soon as possible so that we can better coordinate your registration process without any delays. If in the event you do not provide the requested information to your insurance provider it is possible it can delay payment to your account.

Please keep in mind, your agreement with your health plan or insurance company is between you and the insurer. Any amount not covered by your plan is your responsibility. This includes commercial plans, managed care plans, Medicare and Medicaid. The patient is responsible for deductibles, percentage payments, co-payments, and treatments or procedures that aren’t covered or are only partially covered. We will be happy to assist in filing claims and arranging payment with your insurance plan.

In addition to the bill from the hospital you may also receive separate bills for the professional services of your physician, surgeon, anesthesiologist, radiologist, pathologist, consulting physicians and emergency room physicians.

If you do not have insurance coverage, you must make financial arrangements with the hospitals financial counselors. Northern Louisiana Medical Center provides an opportunity for all individuals that do not have insurance to be screened for qualification for state and parish assistance programs.

We will be happy to answer any questions you may have concerning your financial arrangements. Call the Financial Counselors between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. If your last name begins with A-L, call (318) 254-2378 and if your last name begins with M-Z, call (318)254-2404.
