ATTENTION ALL VISITORS

Introduction:
Patient visitation can provide many benefits to both patients and visitors. Northern Louisiana Medical Center currently allows visitation with the following restrictions. The policy is subject to change due to the current COVID- 19 status, State and National guidelines.

No one under the age of 16 is allowed in the facility unless seeking medical treatment.

Policy:
In order to protect our patients and healthcare personnel and to reduce the potential risk of disease transmission to patients, visitors, staff and the community, the following procedure will be adhered to by all Northern Louisiana Medical Center personnel.

  1. Visitor Restrictions:
    • The Medical Director, Director of Infectious Diseases, or other such qualified individual, in consultation with hospital Administration may recommend changes in the visitor policy at Northern Louisiana Medical Center during the COVID-19 pandemic.
    • All visitors must be screened upon entering the facility.
    • All visitors must wear a face mask at all times while in the facility.
    • All visitors must follow any additional PPE requirements while in the facility.
    • If a visitor refuses to adhere to the visitation policy, Security will be called to escort the visitor out of the hospital.
    • During a calendar day, visitors may not re-enter the facility once they have gone outside.
    • COVID-19 units: Two visitors per day with appropriate PPE worn during the duration of the visit for 30 minutes during one of the following time periods:
      • 10:00 am to 10:30 am
      • 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm
      • 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm
      • 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm
    • Emergency Department: one visitor may remain with the patient in the ED examination room. If no room is available, the visitor will be asked to wait outside. No visitors will be allowed to wait in the ED Lobby. This excludes pediatric patients. When the patient is called back to the exam room, the visitor will be notified and allowed to enter room.
      • Pediatric patients: a parent or designated caregiver is to remain with the child at all times throughout the ED visit. If a single parent arrives with the patient’s siblings, all family members will remain together at all times throughout the ED visit.
      • If the patient is admitted, the visitor must adhere to the inpatient visitor guidelines.
    • Outpatient Surgery: one visitor may remain in the patient’s room. If no room is available, the visitor will be asked to wait outside the facility until the patient has been placed in a room. Once a room is available the visitor will be notified. The visitor will remain in the patient’s room until time of discharge or admission. If the patient is admitted, the visitor must adhere to the inpatient visitor guidelines. There will be NO waiting in the Surgery Waiting Room or the hospital lobby.
    • Inpatient units: Two visitors per day between the hours of 10:00 am and 7:30 pm. A patient may NOT have multiple visitors during the posted visiting hours with the following stipulation:
      • Medical ICU: A total of two visitors one time a day for 30 minutes during one of the following time periods:
        • 10:00 am to 10:30 am
        • 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm
        • 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm
        • 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm
      • Inpatient surgical procedure after visiting hours: two visitors may wait in the patient’s room during the procedure and may remain in the room for one hour post procedure dependent upon the patient’s status and location.
    • Women’s Center: Two visitors allowed during labor and delivery. After delivery, during one visitation period between 10:00 am to 7:30, may have up to four visitors in addition to the significant other. For the remainder of the stay, a total of two visitors per day are allowed.
    • Pediatrics: a parent or designated caregiver is to remain with the child at all times throughout the hospital stay. Parents may alternate visits or one visitor may stay for the duration of the stay.
    • Special circumstances: visitation has been approved by Hospital Administration, this includes end of life circumstances.
